Week 2 Results: One Loss, One Dub

This week had a mixed outcome for the two of us: A lost 112-120 and N won 101-85. This puts A at 0-2 for the season and N at 1-1.

A - This was such a sad week. I chose to pick up Brock Purdy after Aaron Rodgers' injury and ended up playing Purdy over Lamar Jackson after Jackson's measly 5-point game last weekend. This turned out to be a bad decision, as Purdy's 14 points did not compare to Jackson's 26. Additionally, I was playing against Patrick Mahomes, who also collected 26 points. My next disappointment is the Jets' defense, who faced the Dallas Cowboys this week. After an insane first week, I had confidence going into this week. However, they scored -2 points. I honestly did not think it was possible for a defense to end in the negatives. My opponent's defense, Tampa Bay, scored 31 points. And thus, it appeared likely that I was going to lose.

N - My team didn't play great, only scoring 101 points, yet it still resulted in a win. Ekeler's last-minute injury designation hurt my team a ton, forcing me to play Zach Charbonnet. Fields continues to disappoint, with only 16 points this week following a 15-point game last week. I also benched my two highest scorers, George Pickens and D'Andre Swift. These bad fantasy performances somehow managed to defeat the reigning champion, with Trevor Lawrence only managing 8 points for them. Although it feels like my team should've lost, it was a win I needed to continue to compete in this league.

A - Keenan Allen was my player of the week, as featured in our cover picture. He scored 2 touchdowns with 111 yards for a total of 31 Fantasy points. Gabe Davis (21 points) and James Conner (17 points) were still not enough to make up for my lack of defensive points. My opponent's Raheem Mostert (27 points) saved him in the end, leading me to a loss in the end.

N - My best player this week was DJ Moore, catching 6 passes for 104 yards. My defense and kicker also helped, scoring 14 and 13 respectively. This is great news for Moore, especially after his abysmal 4-point game in week 1.

A - This next week I have a bye! I will enjoy not losing for a third consecutive week. This will also give me an opportunity to observe Purdy and Jackson, who are now fighting for a spot on my roster.

N - I have a huge matchup this week, playing my Dad. He is 2-0, and it seems as if his team might be unbeatable. Headlined by Christian McCaffrey and Jalen Hurts, his high-powered team might be too much of a match for a team that barely crossed the 100-point mark this past week.

A - I have some questions for my brother before we conclude, because I know he watched every minute of RedZone these past two weeks. Firstly, which team, as of right now, do you think is winning the Super Bowl?

N - As much as I would like to say the Broncos, it seems unlikely they even make the playoffs this year once again. We will see how they play against the team that I believe is winning the Superbowl, the Miami Dolphins. This offense seems absolutely unstoppable, with Tua playing the best football of his life and Tyreek and Waddle racing around everyone.

A - Which team was the most underrated coming into this season, and which team is the most underrated as of this week?

N - I believe the most underrated team coming into the season was the Dolphins, as nobody thought they would even come close to competing with their division rival, the Buffalo Bills. The most underrated team as of this week is the Patriots. They've played two of the best teams in the league, and although they're 0-2, they've put up a great fight in both games. I could easily see them fighting for a Wildcard playoff spot.

A - Lastly, who is the number 1 player in the league right now, and do you think there are any rookies that will have a breakthrough season?

N - I believe the best player in the league right now is Trent Williams. I know it might seem lame picking an Offensive Lineman as the best player in the league, but I truly believe he is one of if not the most talented Offensive lineman in the history of the sport. He completely dominates the line of scrimmage, and can single-handedly open up holes in the line of 300+ pound linemen for the Running Back to run through. One rookie I can see having a breakthrough season is QB Anthony Richardson. He already looks like a stud, with 3 rushing touchdowns through less than 2 games. He reminds me a lot of Lamar Jackson, which is an incredible comparison for a rookie.

A - Thanks for reading this week! We will be back next Tuesday, after our dad crushes N.
