Week 1 Results: Double Disaster

As the title foreshadows, week 1 was an absolute disaster for both of us. From injuries to unfortunate matchups, it was not a very good way to start off the season.

N - My week didn't start great, with Jahmyr Gibbs only getting 7 fantasy points on Thursday night, and it only got worse from there. There was a disastrous showing in the early slate of games, headlined by Chris Godwin only having 10 and Pat Freiermuth only getting one catch all game. This was followed by a slightly better performance by my guys, led by Austin Ekeler's 26 points. Unfortunately, in that same game, my opponent's Tyreek Hill went for over 200 yards and 44 fantasy points. My team didn't play great, but there's not much I can do when my opponent scores over 150 points.

A - The final score of my match-up was 96-103, with me losing. Although this sounds relatively close, I can promise you there is a lot to the story. For one, I was down 50 points before Monday night, when my Jets' defense scored a whopping 38 points to keep me from being completely humbled. In other news, my QB Lamar Jackson only passed for 169 yards with no touchdowns and an interception, leading to only 5 fantasy points. I was thus excited to see how Aaron Rodgers would play, as he is currently on my bench. And then he tore his Achilles in seconds...so I think I need a brand new QB for next week. My first-round draft pick, Travis Kelce, was also hurt. Losing him hurt my team, as he was projected to have around 20 points. Keenan Allen played well, scoring 13 points. None of my other players stand out, unfortunately. My opponent's team was led by Deshaun Watson (22 points), Justin Jefferson (24 points), and the Raven's defense (17 points).

N - This was week 1, and the rust showed in the games and in Fantasy scores. Although I lost, there is some good news that came out of this week. For example, my backup QB, Anthony Richardson, showed his potential value as a QB1. I could possibly trade him later down the line, upgrading at wide receiver or running back. Also, my two stars, St. Brown and Ekeler, both played great this week and I now know I can count on them for the rest of the season. I hope to bounce back next week against my cousin, who happens to be the defending champion.

A - For this upcoming week, I know some changes have to be made. I dropped Rodgers and will hopefully pick up Brock Purdy. It will be a game-time decision as to whether I play Jackson or Purdy. I hope Kelce will be back in the running. It may be time to add a new WR as well. My opponent next week dominated in his last match-up, led by Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Jones, and Travis Etienne Jr.. I will make my changes and see what happens!
