N's Draft Results

Our league finished our fantasy league less than half an hour ago today, September 4th. We chose to draft right before the NFL season started, as to avoid any last-second injury news. This proved to be a good decision, as Cooper Kupp suffered a setback with his Hamstring injury recently, plummeting his value and, consequently, when he got drafted. As someone who wanted to draft him a week ago, this helped prevent me from drafting him with my pick, the 1.05. I drafted Austin Ekeler instead, and the draft just went uphill from there. I got many players who I feel are going to exceed their expectations this year, and even some who fell 10+ spots to my pick. In an 11-person league, this was the team I drafted:

QB: Justin Fields
RB1: Austin Ekeler:
RB2: Jahmyr Gibbs
WR1: Amon-Ra St. Brown
WR2: Chris Godwin
WR/TE: Pat Freiermuth
FLEX: DJ Moore
D/ST: Panthers
K: Younghoe Koo

My bench isn't the strongest, but is still highlighted with players like George Pickens, Brandin Cooks, and Anthony Richardson: all high-upside players who could start later in the season.

At first glance, there is an obvious weakness: Tight End. During the draft, two guys I wanted, Kyle Pitts and Dallas Goedert, got drafted the two picks before me. So, I decided to go for depth with Running Backs and Wide Receivers rather than reach for a Tight End. It is a weak position, but I feel that the rest of the team makes up for it.

I put a lot of faith in the Detroit Lions' offense this year, drafting both Jahmyr Gibbs and Amon-Ra St. Brown in the first three rounds. This isn't without a good reason, as they ranked 5th in the league in points per game. They should be even better this year, and, as a result, fantasy points will skyrocket.

I shouldn't have to explain Austin Ekeler and Justin Fields, as they have both proved how good they can be in fantasy football formats. I was happy when my sister drafted Travis Kelce at the 1.04 and let Ekeler slide to my pick, especially when you consider how he was the overall RB1 last year. I was able to draft Fields in the fourth round, right when most good QBs were being drafted. I was afraid I was going to be stuck with a bad Quarterback when Hurts, Burrow, Lamar, and Herbert all got drafted in a span of 11 picks (25-35). So when the young, explosive QB with back-to-back 40-point Fantasy games last year was available, I wasted no time.

Finally, Chris Godwin and DJ Moore were both risky picks, but I believe both will play well this year. Chris Godwin has shown he is QB-proof over the years, and I know he has the ability to be the go-to guy for Baker Mayfield this year. DJ Moore has been shaky the past few seasons in Fantasy, but I feel the breakout of Justin Fields will propel him to a star.

Overall, I am pleased with how the draft went, and I am very excited to beat A in fantasy as many times as possible this year.
